Across the Cliffs in Cornwall - Wheal Coates Mine to Chapel Porth

While in Cornwall a couple of weekends ago, we went for an evening stroll along the South West Coast Path from Wheal Coates Mine to Chapel Porth Cove.

The area is filled with industrial heritage with old copper and tin mine workings, ruined and derelict buildings and deep echoing mine shafts.
The engine house in the picture below is Towanroath Pumping Engine House dating back to 1872.
Plus the walk has amazing views of the North Cornish coastline!
And when it's dark, you can spy the distant lights of St Ives...

For a June evening, it was very chilly and incredibly windy hence the mac and fashionable windswept look I'm sporting...

We also spotted this little furry friend, happily crouching in the bracken, hiding from any potential predators (or nosy photographers!)

Although the mine shafts are covered over, for an example of how deep they are, find a stone and drop it down through the railings - you won't hear any sound for a good long while!
