Here's what the day looked like...
Saturday 20th was June's photo an hour date - a hot day of sewing and swimming!
May's photo an hour date was Saturday 17th. I had a day of peace and quiet (spring cleaning!) as Andrew and Lily headed out to Castle Combe Steam Rally, coming back home in the evening to watch the Eurovision Song Contest.
Saturday 19th was the date chosen for April's photo an hour - which was the day before Easter Sunday! We were on holiday in Anglesey and it was a bit of a rainy day.
March's photo an hour date was Saturday 22nd. My dad's funeral had been the day before so we had family around from various locations north and south. It wasn't too bad a day weather-wise so we decided on an afternoon stroll along Clevedon seafront, taking in some ice cream, cake and playgrounds.
The last photo an hour date of 2024 was Saturday 21st December. We went out for my annual birthday day trip to the seaside for hot chocolate and fish & chips in Weymouth.
August's photo an hour day took place on Saturday 17th. We did some jobs at home, visited my Dad in his nursing home and then took a drive to deliver last year's carnival trophies back to their hometowns.
Saturday 20th July was the date chosen for July's photo an hour. Unusually I had the whole day at home to myself as the other half and Small Person were camping at a local steam rally. I mostly spent the day sewing and trying things out for Small Person's carnival costume.
June's photo an hour date fell on Saturday 22nd - and it was a lovely sunny day! One of our local recycling centres recently opened a reuse shop and we had a shopping list of a comfy chair for Lily's bedroom and a bigger scooter for her so we explored there in the morning. We managed to find both items at a relatively good price! £15 for the chair and £3 for the scooter so that wasn't bad at all. In the afternoon we headed over to (what was) my Mum's house to do some sorting, clearing and tidying. And in the evening we visited my Dad in his nursing home and then headed home via some local share & reuse boxes.
May's photo an hour took place on Saturday 18th. It was a lovely sunny day and also the other half's birthday on the 19th so we headed to a local steam rally to have a look round.
April's photo an hour day was on Saturday 20th. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that my Mum died on 11th April after both a long illness (a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2019) and a short illness (swelling from brain tumours). It was also mine and Andrew's 17th wedding anniversary on 21st April so we thought Saturday 20th would be a good day for a trip to the seaside to both remember my Mum and celebrate 17 years of putting up with each other. We chose Teignmouth in Devon - one of my Mum's favourite seaside towns.
Saturday 23rd was the date chosen for March's photo an hour. It was a spring cleaning type of day for us with a trip out in the afternoon to do some errands.
Saturday 17th was the date chosen for February's photo an hour. We had a day of spring cleaning and tidying with a morning trip to the library and an unexpected afternoon visit from the local ice cream van!
Saturday 20th was the first Photo an Hour day of 2024! We'd promised Lily a day trip for her birthday (which was the next week) and she picked Barry Island as the destination. We didn't quite expect it to be so cold though! Although we still managed to see the funfair, have some ice cream, find some playgrounds and finish the day with fish & chips.
Saturday 16th December was the final photo an hour date of 2023!
We were away for the weekend at a local holiday park, at a cottage with a hot tub (my birthday present!). It was also Honiton Christmas Carnival in the evening so we headed down to Devon to watch that, picking up some chips and watching some Christmas lights on the way back.
Every month I find myself wondering, "how on earth has photo an hour come round again so quickly!?" I have no idea where the year has gone. So last Saturday, the 18th November ended up being the penultimate photo an hour day of 2023 (again, how?)
As is standard for November in Somerset, it was a carnival day - Glastonbury this time, the final big carnival of the year!
Saturday 21st was the date chosen for October's photo an hour. Another carnival day down here in the south west; we headed to Trowbridge in the evening for the Small Person to show off her Mary Anning performance.
August's photo an hour date was Saturday 19th. We were on our way home from our 3-week road trip around Scotland and that day was a journey from Morecambe to Wrexham including an afternoon play date stop with family in North Wales.
Saturday 24th was the date chosen for June's photo an hour. Right in the middle of Glastonbury Festival! I'd already done one shift working there and been into the festival on Thursday and Friday; Saturday was my second shift, an evening one.
Saturday 20th May was the date chosen for May's photo an hour. We did a bit of tidying, a bit of making, a bit of playing, collected some shopping and visited family members in two care homes.
Saturday 15th was the date chosen for April's photo an hour. We'd been on holiday in North Wales for the Easter break and that day we were travelling back home to the South West.
