This weeks theme is...Steam Train Special

Inspired by a local steam train gala which Andrew and his lorry are attending this weekend.
If you're in and around the Somerset Mendips on Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd, pop over to the Midsummer at Midsomer event at Midsomer Norton's Somerset and Dorset Heritage Railway Station.

1. Freight Train by Nancy Whiskey and The Chas McDevitt Skiffle Group

Written by Elizabeth Cotton in the early 20th century, the song evokes the sound of trains rolling on the tracks
'Freight Train' entered the chart on 12th April 1957 reaching Number 5

2. Rock Island Line by Lonnie Donegan

First sung by inmates at Arkansas State Prison and made famous by skiffle artist, Lonnie Donegan
'Rock Island Line' entered the chart on 6th January 1956 reaching Number 8

3. The Six Five Special by The Bob Cort Skiffle Group

The theme tune to the BBC's 'Six Five Special' - a late 1950's rock and roll programme
Can't find much information about this track - it looks like it's from either 1957 or 1959 and possibly was never released as a single

Happy listening!
