October Happiness

Five things which made me smile this month...

1. This hot chocolate!

2. Still managing to get out and do things with my crutches and wheelchair. During October we went to two Carnivals (one of which I judged at), four theatre and comedy shows, one Carnival club meeting, one weekend away and one day trip on the West Somerset Railway.

3. Learning to knit and actually following a pattern successfully enough to knit a whole scarf (which I wore when we visited the railway).

4. Being told my ankle is no longer broken and being able to put my foot in water for the first time in six weeks!

5. And finally, this Apple and Blackberry Crumble from the restaurant at the hospital - their standard size serving of pudding at lunchtime.

September Happiness

Five things which made me smile this month...

1. All the truly lovely tweets, messages and cards I received after fracturing my ankle the other week.

2. Meeting sister-in-law's new boyfriend for the first time. When we were in Cornwall at the beginning of the month, we all met up for an afternoon in Padstow and he seems like a pretty decent chap. It was fairly obvious from the few hours we spent with them that he makes her happy and she makes him happy so I'm keeping all my bits crossed that he's around for a long time!

3. New haircut!
(obviously this was taken just after I'd left the hairdressers, I'm never going to be able to get it to look that good myself)

4. Managing to actually pull off a mystery tour for father-in-law's birthday. He had no idea where he was going until we were about 10 miles away!

5. Kneehigh Theatre Company's amazing show, 'Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs)'

2. Which leads nicely to...pizza! Managing to visit Mamma's Pizza Restaurant in Edinburgh finally after 4 years of trying to fit it into our hectic schedule.

July Happiness

Five things which made me smile this month...

1. Actually managing to pull off a surprise 70th birthday party for the mother in law - complete with a vintage vehicle display, fairground organ, 120 guests and a hog roast - and she had no idea!

2. A lovely day out in Weymouth with Andrew.

3. Discovering how awesome Grillstock is! There'll be a proper blog post about it next week. :-)

4. Spending a day playing our friend's 1896 fairground organ at a steam rally in Somerset. I don't know why I like it really, it's just really good fun feeding books of music through the organ!

5. Ringing up our fertility clinic to book in for our next bit of IVF treatment. Even though the actual embryo transfer bit won't be til the end of September you have to get started with drugs and tests about 6-8 weeks before. My next thing is the delightfully named endometrial scratch (which, if you know what your endometrium is, the procedure is exactly what it says on the tin!)

May Happiness

Five things which made me smile this month...

1. Completing BEDM again. Okay, I probably cheated a bit, sometimes posting stuff a day late but if you look back, I’ve managed to find something tenuous and rambling to say each and every day.

Blog Every Day in May

2. A tasty treat at Selwood Steam Rally. Wonder if you could make a living from running vintage tea shops at steam rallies?
