Day 14 of rosalilium’s 'blog every day in May' challenge
Food Glorious Food
(Share your favourite recipe. Talk about the best cocktail you've ever tasted. Or maybe share your fave restaurant experience. Let's get talking about food!)
Today's topic coincides nicely with a visit to the super Toppings Bookshop in Bath to hear all about the Clandestine Cake Club with free cake and a talk from Lynn Hill, founder of the Cake Club enterprise.
Despite the atrocious weather, me and my two gorgeous girlies, M and C headed into Bath city centre first to dine out at ASK with our 25% off NUS student discount.
Of course, there was wine...
And plenty of good conversation and company over tea...
Then it was over the road to Toppings Bookshop for our cake!

Despite the atrocious weather, me and my two gorgeous girlies, M and C headed into Bath city centre first to dine out at ASK with our 25% off NUS student discount.
Of course, there was wine...
Calamari and Panzerottini for starters...
Ravioli Marittimi, Terrina Frutti Di Mare and Gnocchi Con Prosciutto E Piselli for mains...
And plenty of good conversation and company over tea...
Then it was over the road to Toppings Bookshop for our cake!
And boy, was there cake - lots and lots and lots!
We managed to sample a little bit of pretty much everything and also smuggle some out for Andrew as a thank you for providing the taxi service.
The talk was to promote the Clandestine Cake Club's new book and it was really interesting to hear about how they chose which cakes to include, how they tested (and sampled) the cakes and then how they photographed them. Lots of tips for food photography and styling!
The book itself is fairly hefty with over 120 cakes included, the majority of them illustrated and photographed in beautiful detail. I purchased the book on the night and it was very kindly signed by Lynn Hill herself and the photography design stylist, Anita Mangan.
Book review to follow next week!
Anyone part of a Clandestine Cake Club?
With thanks to my lovely friend M for letting me use her camera phone!
