Book Love
(Tell us about your favourite book. Or maybe give us a top 5 of the books that changed your life.)

But my absolute favourite non-fiction book is this one...
I was fascintated by Butlins as a child.
We never went there as a family; I was sure it was a mythical place where children had loads and loads of fun but I wasn't allowed to go. I finally went in 2007 with Andrew on a late deal and it was just as good as I always thought it would be.
I stumbled across this book back in 2002 in my University library and was instantly taken with the photographs, the clothing, the scenery and the fun everyone seemed to be having.
John Hinde was a pioneer of picture postcard photography enhancing the colours of photographs and even going as far as to stage each scene according to his own wishes. I know it means his pictures aren't strictly accurate but they capture the image Billy Butlin wanted to portray in the 1960's and 1970's.
I love flicking through the pictures imagining that this was actually what Butlins was like years ago.
Wouldn't you just love to be there?
