Day 19 - Favourite Tradition

Day 19 of rosalilium’s 'blog every day in May' challenge
Favourite Tradition
(We all make up traditions that carry over year after year. What is your favourite tradition? Big or small, share the details and why you enjoy it.)

Going a bit off topic as today was Andrew's birthday!
(do you think a birthday counts as a tradition?)

Birthday presents

He probably doesn't want me to publish his age on here, but as a hint, he's five years older than me!

His day started out with his favourite breakfast - my own version of a Sausage and Egg McMuffin (adapted from a recipe in 'The Takeaway Secret' by Kenny McGovern)

Then while I baked a birthday cake and tried my hardest to do some coursework, he tinkered with his other favourite lady - his 1952 Scammell lorry.

Then his parents joined us for afternoon tea and cake in our warm conservatory!

Gooey chocolate cake

It wasn't the prettiest cake I've ever made - it's a Bruce Bogtrotter-style cake (yep, still obsessed with Matilda the Musical after seeing it in December last year) and it ended up very rich and very very gooey, almost like chocolate trifle instead of chocolate cake. But he didn't mind and everyone still enjoyed it!

The amazing birthday present I bought Andrew a few weeks ago (and mentioned here) was this...

2 tickets in the front row of the balcony at Bournemouth - just a shame we have to wait til February next year for it!

    1. Thank you! It did taste good, if a bit gooey :-)

Both me and Andrew are Russell Howard fans, we've seen him several times and I'm sure his Wonderbox tour will be just as good! :-) x
