Day 17 - Relax

Day 17 of Rosalilium's blog every day in November challenge
Relax
(It's Sunday, the day of rest. How do you like to relax?)

Definition
verb: make or become less tense or anxious
Source: Oxford English Dictionary

I found this prompt really difficult; I do enjoy all the typical "relaxing" activities like soaking in the bath, lighting candles or snuggling up with good book, but they're not what I would necessarily think of doing to relax.

The truth is I feel most relaxed when I'm actually busy - writing lists, planning events, browsing and commenting on blogs or heading out somewhere to do something.

It constantly annoys Andrew because he's quite happy to sit on the sofa and watch TV whereas I'll be doing several things at once (while I'm writing this for example, we've got 'The Science of Doctor Who' on the TV, there are chocolate brownies in the oven cooking and a load of photos are downloading onto my laptop).

Uisng the definition from the Oxford English Dictionary above, I probably feel my least tense or anxious when we're on holiday, not because we're having a week off to do nothing but because it'll be something I've planned ages in advance (our annual trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an example) and we can sit back and enjoy the holiday, knowing everything is taken care of and organised.

Does that make any kind of sense?
I'm not sure it does, I probably sound like I've got some kind of problem... :-)

Beach North of Scotland
This was taken somewhere between Tongue and Betty Hill on the far north coast of Scotland - it probably doesn't seem like it has much to do with today's prompt, but it was taken in the middle of a 2 week camping roadtrip around the whole of Scotland a few years ago. Probably one of the most enjoyable and relaxing holidays I've had!

  1. I find it really hard to relax, I always need to feel like I have to be doing something although cross stitching has helped me chill out a lot lately.

    1. That's exactly how I feel, I find it hard to sit around and do nothing but then I think, well, if keeping busy keeps me happy, then there's no problem with it :-) x

  2. Scotland looks stunning!!
And I'm with you, multi-tasking is the best type of relaxation. Especially list making.
