Day 10 of Rosalilium’s 'Blog Every Day in May' Challenge
This is such a difficult prompt - not because I don't support fair trade or anything but beacuse I just don't really where to take a whole blog post about it.
So this is probably going to be a mish-mash of random fair trade things...
First up, this was my Easter egg from Andrew this year (which I still haven't eaten!)
Next up, everyone heard of Ted Talks? Yep?
(if you haven't, TED stands for 'Technology, Entertainment, Design' and is a concept devoted to what the organisers call 'ideas worth spreading'. This usually takes the form of conferences, talks and events across the world, most of the time with quite well-known speakers).
They're all available on the Ted website and here's a couple of good ones about fair trade:
Making Global Labor Fair by Auret van Heerden
Demand a Fair Trade Cell Phone by Bandi Mbubi
Where I work we also have a free public lecture programme during each semester and a little known fact is that a lot of the sessions are available to download as podcasts. Some interesting ones that are marginally related to fair trade are:
Brand Aid? Development finance and African agriculture - available from www.bath.ac.uk/podcast/itunes/itunes-rss/163-podbath-JamesCopestake.mp3
Bio-technology in Africa - available from
www.bath.ac.uk/podcast/itunes/itunes-rss/073-podbath-FlorenceWambugu.mp3
So yep, there you go, an eclectic collection of stuff slightly related to fair trade.
Now go treat yourselves to some Green and Blacks!
How on earth do you still have Easter eggs left?! I didn't even have any left by Easter Sunday!! haha xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure! :-) xxx
