A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 16th August

This month Jane (from Is That You Darling) set the photo an hour challenge on Saturday 16th August. There were several of us taking part on Instagram and Twitter; I'm not sure how everyone else's day panned out but mine involved rather a large amount of food!

9am - I woke up about 8.30am and by 9am we had sausage patties and tomatoes sizzling on the hotplate ready to make Sausage and Egg Muffins (very similar to the ones made by the firm with the golden arches).

9am - sausage and egg muffins cooking

10am - We headed out to do a couple of jobs in town; visiting the delivery office and the waste recycling depot on the way.

10am - blue sky

11am - I got stuck into some baking, ready for a picnic the next day.

11am - recipes

12pm - First batch of things cooked - Sausage and Tomato Chutney Rolls :-)

12pm - sausage and tomato chutney rolls

1pm - The main bit of the picnic was a Sausage, Bacon and Egg pie which I made a start on next.

1pm - pie ingredients

2pm - Whilst I was in the kitchen cooking, Andrew made the most of the sunny weather and finished off our homemade gate.

2pm - fence-building

3pm - Voila! The pie didn't look half bad!

3pm - cooked pie

4pm - Next up, I started on the cakes. I made Apple and Blackberry Traybake and Chocolate and Raspberry Brownies with fruit foraged last autumn and frozen for about 10 months.

4pm - frozen raspberries and blackberries

5pm - The apple and blackberry traybake started to look quite colourful!

5pm - apple and blackberry traybake mixture

6pm - After numerous hours slaving over the oven, I hung up my apron to have a quick wash before heading out for the evening.

6pm - apron hung up for the day

7pm - Where we were off to was a pre-show BBQ in the vintage vehicle field at the Mid Somerset Show.

7pm - steam engine bbq

8pm - Dinner was served and my first course was a delicious hog roll.

8pm - hog roll

9pm - A couple of our friends had a fire going so we all crowded round to keep warm and talk about nonsense.

9pm - fire in a log

10pm - Back at home and just chopping up the cakes ready to take out the next morning.

10pm - chocolate and raspberry brownie

11pm - And just before bed, one book finished (Ghostwritten) and another one started!

11pm - books before bedtime

Pop over to Jane's blog to see when September's photo an hour challenge will be!

  1. Hi,
I've just come across your lovely blog. I wanted to let you know that I'm coming to Somerset to give a talk at the Wells Food Festival about blogging and supper clubs, on Sunday 12th October - would be great if you can make it!

    1. Ooh thanks for the info Rosie! Myself and a couple of friends went to Wells for the festival last year and we are planning on going again this year so I'll keep an eye out for your talk :-) xx

  2. Wow, you were not exagerating about the amount of food! Yummy! Looks like you've had a great Saturday!

    1. Yeah, there was rather a lot! It didn't look like much in the kitchen but it does look a lot on here :-) xx

  3. If you managed to resist "testing" a slice of that traybake when you got home at 10pm you're a much stronger woman than I am :p xxx

    1. We did! It remained untasted (well, apart from a few crumbs left on the tray) until about 1pm the next day :-) xxx

  4. Eek, I totally forgot this month, oops! Your baking looks fab though :)

    1. Thanks Josie! Plenty of other chances the rest of the year to take part :-) xx

  5. Stopping by via photo an hour. Oh my, all that food has made me feel quite hungry! Also I love your apron :-)

    1. Thanks Bev! It was rather a food-filled day :-) xx

  6. I remember all your food photos making me feel rather hungry while we were tramping around London!!
