This Midweek Hop - School's Out!

A weekly musical feature inspired by Desmond Carrington's 'The Music Goes Round'

'Wurlitzer 1015' 1946 Jukebox

This weeks theme is...School's Out!

Inspired by all the children and teenagers who've just finished school for the summer.

1. Summer Holiday by Cliff Richard and The Shadows

The classic summer holiday song - a bit cheesy now perhaps but wouldn't we all want to take a bus and drive into the sunset?
'Summer Holiday' entered the chart on 21st February 1963 reaching Number 1

2. School's Out by Alice Cooper

I'm sure the majority of teenagers wish that school was "out forever".
'School's Out' entered the chart on 15h July 1972 reaching Number 1

3. It Might As Well Rain Until September by Carole King

Breaking up from school seems good, but you might not see your friends or teenage sweethearts for a whole six weeks!
'It Might As Well Rain Until September' entered the chart on 20th September 1962 reaching Number 3.

Happy listening!
