We have mostly been...
Preparing – to go back to work today. For Andrew he's had two weeks of Christmas holiday but for me, it's been three and half months. Although it's been nice having the free time to do things like learn to knit and watch Green Wing (which is A-MAZING, how on earth did I miss it 10 years ago?), I'd have rather not had the trimalleolar ankle fracture to go with it.
Dismantling – all the Christmas stuff and nonsense. The place looks very empty now.
Watching – two films on Saturday night with our paid-for-by-Tesco Cineworld vouchers. We saw The Theory of Everything followed by Big Eyes. If you haven’t seen Theory yet, you really should, spectacular performances from the entire cast and it's both a heart-warming and heart-breaking storyline. I'd also recommend Big Eyes as well (although obviously it can't compare to Theory); it's the latest film from Danny Elfman and Tim Burton and is up to their usual standard. I'd heard of Margaret Keane before but didn't really know much about her story so I found it really interesting to see how she ended up being manipulated by her husband, Walter. Again, all the performances were really strong and the music worked perfectly too – although you wouldn’t expect anything less from Elfman of course!
Building – wardrobes. Our house has 4 bedrooms and one of them is an en-suite but without any furniture. One of the other bedrooms has built-in wardrobes. When we moved in, we took the one with the furniture and always meant to move into the en-suite at some point with some lovely new bits and pieces to put our clothes in. We've been here 5 years now, bought the wardrobes last summer and only just put them up over the last few days. It does look quite nice now though, we just need to sort some stuff out and then move everything in followed by prettying the place up a bit.
What did you get up to at the weekend?
It's funny how bare the house looks once you take the Christmas decorations are down!
ReplyDeleteI hope your return to work went well!

Bits & Bobs
Our Christmas tree is still up haha! We normally leave it up until the recycling day comes around.
ReplyDeleteI took my Christmas decorations down on New Year's Eve... It worked quite well, it felt like I was making the flat fresh ready for 2015. I find that taking the tree down in January, once the glow of Christmas has faded, is so depressing... x
