A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 20th September, Saturday 18th October & Saturday 15th November 2025

A three month round-up to do this time! Carnival season here in Somerset has taken up most of our time and there just hasn't been the time to do the usual photo an hour round-ups. 

So here's a long post with lots of photos :-) 

Saturday 20th September was a carnival day on the Wessex circuit of processions. That day it was the turn of Frome Carnival and there was a children's afternoon procession and an evening procession.

Saturday 15th November was the last procession of the large County Circuit of carnivals, this time in Glastonbury.

A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 21st September 2024

Saturday 21st was the date chosen for September's photo an hour. It's carnival season down here in Somerset and Lily was taking part in Frome Carnival that day. They had an afternoon procession and an evening procession and she competed in both of them, picking up 5 trophies along the way!

A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 23rd September 2023

Saturday 23rd was the date chosen for September's photo an hour. It was a carnival day here in Somerset (as it is here every Saturday in autumn!) and that date was Frome Carnival. This year the Small Person is taking part on her own at some of the carnivals, entering as a "juvenile masquerader". Her chosen theme (of course) had to be dinosaur-related and so she's depicting Mary Anning, the fossil lady from Lyme Regis. In the daytime, before the carnival we did some jobs and visited my Dad in his nursing home.

A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 18th February 2023

Saturday 18th was February's photo an hour date. It was the last weekend before my kidney surgery operation, which took place on Monday 20th. The consultants said it's always a good idea to increase your fitness level before surgery so we decided to pop over to a local town (Frome) and take a wander, finding some geocaches and playgrounds. It was also market day in town so we managed to pick up some yummy chocolate brownies from one of the stalls.

A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 23rd September

September's photo an hour day was Saturday 23rd, a busy day with family meals, fundraising film events and a carnival in the evening.

Here's what the day looked like...


9am - New favourite TV programme.

10am - Time to tidy up the carnage.

11am - Shower time.

12pm - Out on the road to a local pub for a family meal.

1pm - Waiting for food!

2pm - Someone decided they were too tired for lunch...

3pm - Now playing catch up with lunch (munching on chips) whilst watching Moana at a charity film event.

4pm - I've said it before but it's true, kids really do get all the best clothes.

5pm - The usual cup of tea about this time.

6pm - Off out again, on the way to Frome for the carnival procession.

7pm - First thing in pretty much every carnival procession is a fire engine (also, spot the sort of symmetry in the picture)

8pm - Popping to the shop for a few bits and pieces after the procession.

9pm - And off to bed (which apparently you can't do unless you have one boot on and one boot off)

A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 17th June

Saturday 17th was the date set by Jane for June's photo an hour. Here's what the day looked like...


8am - Starting the day right; as always, with books.

9am - A quick breakfast before heading out to a local NCT sale.

10am - After getting some bargains at the sale, it was time to sample a proper breakfast.

11am - Then into the library for a quick look round.

12pm - Back home and it's still a glorious day.

1pm - Raspberry sorbet is an acceptable lunch, right?

2pm - Trying out one of the purchases from the sale... #glastonburyoutfitsorted

3pm - Late lunch snack time.

4pm - Then off to the grandparents house while I cleaned up.

5pm - And do some laundry-sorting!

6pm - Toast as buttered by a toddler.

7pm - Dinner alfresco on a sunny evening.

8pm - And the post-dinner clean-up can be done outside too!

9pm - And then while she heads off to sleep, I got started reading a new magazine!

A Photo Every Hour - Saturday 24th September

Next I'm going to take you back six months to September's photo an hour day - Saturday 24th September.

Here's what the day looked like...


7am - The start of a lovely autumnal day.

8am - Asleep legs.

9am - Now awake but no photos please!

10am - Breakfast time.

11am - And a post-brekkie snack.

12pm - Lots of patterns today on the outfits.

1pm - A spot of playtime.

2pm - Off to a local soft play centre.

3pm - Late lunch before playing though.

4pm - Just chilling.

5pm - Mr Tumble!

6pm - On the road, off out to watch a local carnival.

7pm - Start of the carnival procession.

8pm - End of the carnival procession.

9pm - And we even managed to get round the supermarket without waking her up.

10pm - And still asleep (I get to drink tea hot for once!)
