This Weekend at the Duckpond

We have mostly been...

Sorting – out stuff. January's always time for an early spring clean and moving into a different bedroom meant that there was an awful lot of clothes, trinkets, shoes, make-up and general assorted clutter that needed to be looked at so we made a start on that.

Booking – a Travelodge for a weekend away to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary in April. I've made a start on one of my 33 Before 33 things and we're off to Barry to do our own Gavin and Stacey tour.

Visiting – a few shops to buy some things for our new bedroom. We went off to Wickes first to see what paint they had left as part of their BOGOF deal (the answer? Not much) then headed to B&M and Home Bargains to pick up some storage boxes and lights to go round the top of our bed. Interestingly in Wickes as well, I spotted they were offering free paint pot testers, 5 per customer. Not sure if it's across the UK or what but worth checking out if you're in the market for some free paint.

Bookmarking – several shows from the Bath Literature Festival programme. It takes place from 27th February to 8th March and I’ve seen at least two or three things from the festival every year. This year I’ve got my eye on shows from Mary Portas and Emma Bridgewater plus talks by David Crystal and Lynne Truss and a few others. Tickets go on sale to the public next Monday morning!

  1. Thanks for the paint testers tip! Might need that if I end up buying a little place of my own. What colour goes best with dinosaurs? :p

Looking forward to seeing your new room- please share lots of photos! Xxx

  2. I love a good couple of January weekends for "sorting out". There's not a lot better than pottering about, finding spaces for new Christmas presents and generally finding some cosiness!

  3. Can't wait to hear about Barry (when the time comes!) the husband grew up not far from there and always harps on about it's tacky wonderfulness.
