This Weekend at the Duckpond

We have mostly been...

Laughing - at funnyman Danny Bhoy with his stand up show, 'Please Untick This Box' at Bristol's Colston Hall. I think he's one of the most under-rated comedians out there (and quite easy on the eye too...), it was the third time I've seen him (the first being about 10 years ago in Edinburgh) and he always leaves us crying with laughter. I reckon a good test of how funny a comedian is, is whether you spend the next few days repeating lines from the show at each other - so we've been quoting 'all birds are dicks' and 'ooh, I didn't know there'd be food!' all weekend. If you're looking for a fab stand up comedy show, please please please go see him!

Participating - in Jane's monthly photo an hour challenge on Saturday. Round up to follow tomorrow!

Confusing - the in laws with a mystery tour for father in law's 74th birthday. We'd planned it all in advance where we were taking them and all they knew was to keep the date free as they would be doing 'something'.

Riding - on the choo choo trains at Didcot Railway Centre, the mystery destination! The in laws have been meaning to visit for about 40 years and back in the summer Mr T's were doing 5x the value on their Clubcard deals so we cashed in some vouchers to take them on a big day out.

Munching - on a delicious piece of homemade cake from the little tea shop at the railway centre.

Treating - the in laws to a slap up dinner at Ed's Easy Diner in Swindon on the way home. What with the wallboxes on each table and the 50s/60s music, it's right up their street and we're fans of the place too. We played about half a dozen songs whilst chomping on a burger, fries and one of Ed's infamous milkshakes.

Exploring - Clifton Rocks Railway in Bristol, one of the venues open for the Heritage Open Days weekend. It's a fascinating place which was used for all sorts of things over the years, I'm going to do a proper review later in the week but it's definitely well worth a visit if you're ever in the area.
