This Weekend at the Duckpond

We have mostly been...

Watching - several shows on Friday and one on Saturday morning in Edinburgh, finishing off a fabulous five days at the Fringe Festival.

Tickets for an Edinburgh Fringe show

Travelling - down from up north, a journey of about 8 and half hours involving 3 trains and a 2 hour stop in Manchester. It could've been a quicker trip on a direct train but that would've been about 4 times the price I paid!

Unpacking - all the stuff from our holiday in Edinburgh.

Fixing - a 1963 Scammell Highwayman lorry. Well, me and the mother-in-law just provided the audience while Andrew, his dad and a friend fixed the wiring. It's one of the lorries owned by Carters Steam Fair and after a couple of phone calls on Sunday morning, we found ourselves heading into Bath complete with toolbox to help out a friend.

Riding - on some of the attractions owned by Carters Steam Fair. Payment for fixing the lorry came in the form of a few free rides!

What did you get up to at the weekend?

  2. Glad to hear you had such a lovely time in Edinburgh (and didn't get caught in any riots on the way home!) :) We've had a lovely long weekend with Friday and today off work. I've sanded and painted the stairs, gone to Hastings for a mooch about and a wedding, gone to a dinner party, and eaten a lot of chocolate buttons. It's been a pretty good weekend :) xxx

    1. That sounds like a very full weekend! Well done on the chocolate button eating as well - I'm sure they don't really have any calories either, they're far too small to contain calories! :-) xxx

  3. We spent most of Saturday driving back from Cornwall and rather a lot of Sunday dodging rain. We certainly didn't do anything as fun as a steam fair!
