This Weekend at the Duckpond

We have mostly been...

Taken - aback by the sheer scale of the flooding on the Somerset levels.

Somerset Levels flooding

Enjoying - a cream scone at Ebbor Gorge viewpoint (yet another place to go and see the extent of the flooding).

Cake at Ebbor Gorge viewpoint

Buying - and laying a new carpet for our refurbished bedroom.
It's finally beginning to look like a proper room again!

Getting - excited at my new kettle and in particular, the toaster.
It toasts! It defrosts! It reheats! It pops!
(jeez, I sound sad...) :-)

What did you get up to at the weekend?

  1. We got a new kettle last week too! For the last few years we've had a second hand kettle that doesn't turn off when it boils - it just keeps bubbling. Now we have one that switches itself off. It's AMAZING!

    1. Haha, it's definitely the small things! (or perhaps it's just a sign of getting old...) :-) x

I love your toaster; it looks like a retro radio! xxx

    1. It's a bit embarrassing to admit but when I took it out of the box, I ended up stroking it where it was just so shiny new and beautiful! :-) x

  4. The flooding on the Somerset Levels has been so extensive, it's quite scary watching aerial shots on the news. I'm glad you haven't been affected by it, but I feel so sorry for those who have. I bet when they bought their houses the flooding wasn't a major problem--it really seems to have been getting worse in recent years.

The toaster looks fab--am I remembering a matching kettle, too? I really need to get new ones of both, especially the kettle. The lid is stuck, so I have to trickle the water in down the spout.

    1. Yep, you're correct - there is a matching kettle! They're both on sale at Dunelm Mill at the moment (£45 down to £31) - still a lot but I'm hoping they'll last a really long time so I'm justifying it that way! :-) xx

  5. Definitely not sad to get excited - I'd kill for a 4 slice toaster! Well, maybe not kill - that's a little bit strong. I would really like one. :) x

    1. I love it! There's only 2 of us in our house at the moment but it's so much fun doing all the toast at the same time! :-) x
