This Weekend at the Duckpond

We have mostly been...

Learning - all about Lush's incredibly perfumed bath and body products and all about Benefit's beauty and make up range at the Bristol Blogger Meet organised by Beky (from Beky Lou) and Danielle (from Danielle Saint). It was a bit impromptu as I only signed up for it on Friday evening but was a lovely day - full blog post to follow during the week!

Packing - away all the Christmas bits and bobs into my new Christmas bags. The tree's come down, the birds have been packed away and all that's left is to hoover and clean the place up.

Installing - a burglar alarm into our house. It was a Christmas present to Andrew from his parents - not the most exciting of gifts but it's certainly useful!

Fitting -  a new freezer into our kitchen. Our small freezer decided to pack up just before Christmas so we took the plunge and bought ourselves a lovely new one. The old one didn't do too badly though; it originally belonged to Andrew's grandmother and when we shifted it out, we found a sticker on the back from when it was purchased new saying '09/1990'!

What did you get up to at the weekend?

  1. I do like how clean, fresh and un-fussy everything looks when the decorations are packed away again. Our fridge and freezer are really old and pretty close to giving up the ghost, but we're trying to look after them as best we can until we get the new kitchen (because we don't want the kind we have at the moment in our new one) Looking forward to reading your Lush review :) xxx

    1. You're right, it does look ever so tidy when everything's been put away til next Christmas!
We couldn't really believe how old our freezer was; well we knew it had had a fair few years use but we didn't think it was anywhere near 23 years! :-) xxx

  2. Sounds like a typical post-Christmas weekend: getting stuff done! I love taking the decorations down - actually that's a lie; I love having the decorations down but the actual taking down of them is almost as hellish as putting them up!

    1. I think most of our weekends over the next few months are going to be weekends of 'getting things done' - which is fab because we do have a long list of house-related jobs! :-) x

  3. It's always such a sad moment to take all the Christmas decorations down, don't you think? We did the same, the living room feels so empty when we walk in now!

    1. I know, it does feel really empty - I think that could easily be an excuse to buy a few new pretty decorations to fill the space up though! :-) x

  5. As well as taking the decs down at my house we got to celebrate Christmas all over again at my mums as sunday was the day the family could all get together. So we had a belated family christmas with present opening and christmas dinner and played buckeroo. :)

  6. I do miss the sparkle, but I'm glad the decorations are down in our house, too! Your bauble bags are HUGE!!

We did a whole lot of staying in at the weekend. The weather was horrid, so there was a lot of snuggling on the sofa with movies on.

    1. I think it's slightly worrying though that we managed to fill up 4 of those huge bauble bags! :-) xx
