This Weekend at the Duckpond (Food Glorious Food - Day 4)

Day 4 of Rosalilium's blog every day in November challenge
Food Glorious Food

(It's our fuel, it's a social bond and for many of us it's a happy place. Today we celebrate food.)

I'm going to be a bit lazy and include my #BEDN Day 4 topic in my usual weekly duckpond round-up.

This weekend we have mostly been...

Watching - two firework displays, one in Bridgwater on Friday night and one in Burnham on Sea on Sunday night. Both were huge displays, completely free and timed to music and very good they were too!

Fireworks Display

Peering - through Carnival shed doors on Friday night, watching all the last minute preparations for Saturday night's procession.

Griifens Carnival Club Building

Clapping - all the wonderful entries, large and small, at Bridgwater Carnival
(some of which we'd seen the previous night, only half finished!)

Bridgwater Carnival

Examining - lots of detail on the Carnival floats while they were all parked up in Burnham on Sea waiting for tonight's Carnival procession.

Munching - a delicious Cottage Pie, potatoes, peas and gravy from a little cafe on the seafront at Burnham on Sea.

Baking - a very chocolatey cake for a work colleague's birthday.

Bear-sitting - Bath Omnibear (the mascot of the staff society at work); we took him to see the Carnival floats and to watch the fireworks!

What did you get up to at the weekend?

  1. That cake looks AMAZING - Ferrero Rochas are my favourite chocolate, except for white chocolate! ;)

Looking forward to seeing you BEDN, it's always lovely to find new blogs!

    1. Thanks Sarah! I'm not actually that keen on Ferrrero Rochas but the birthday girl at work loves them so she managed to get several! :-) x

  2. That cake has just started a massive chocolate craving! You've made it look so neat too, usually mine are uneven, layers sliding everywhere messes!

    1. Ooh sorry Rosie! I must confess though, most of the icing was done by the other half - I think he finds icing cakes a bit like plastering! :-) x

  3. Your weekend was WAY better than mine! And that chocolate cake looks divine...

I spent the weekend in bed with a filthy cold, which is now setting up shop in my chest--second round of Bronchitis?--and slept/sneezed/coughed. Lucas and Dave baked me a get well soon cake packed with carrot and orange for cold-busting purposes :)
